Here is the current view for D Lucas Realty’s WordPress dashboard as of 9/14/16
WordPress websites are easy to maintain and administer but will need regular attention to keep it updated and current so database and resources don’t stop functioning properly.
Let’s examine what deserves immediate attention at this time;
- Several updates are waiting to be added onto the website
- SPAM comments need to be eliminated
- Plugin updates are available to work in new WordPress release
- Page view traffic to website for the most recent 7 days
- Attempted logins by unauthorized users into the WordPress dashboard to date
- Form submissions at website that are new and have been read
Items 1 & 3 are simple to take care of;
Just click on the Updates option in the Dashboard menu and select all Plugins to update first and then WordPress software update
Item 6 shows a number of form submissions as unread. You should check to make sure those customer contact requests are in Highrise so you can make them read. If they’re not in highrise, then make sure you enter the contacts in.
I’ve addressed Item 5 by installing a plugin that will eliminate brute force login attempts by unauthorized users. It’s important to keep an eye on that stat to make sure you don’t see it increase rapidly in a single day.
Item 4 is an ongoing record of the website’s pageview traffic. Because the site’s main content offering is real estate property listings, this information offers insight into what site visitors are most interested in. This information is valuable to David because it can guide him on which listings promote online to increase the chances someone will request an appointment.
And now for Item 2 … SPAM comments. It’s here that you’ll have to devote 2o minutes of your day to delete these comments. SPAM comments destroy the credibility of a website to search engines. David’s site relies on search engine traffic and SPAM comments usually cause search engines like Google to assign a poor reputation to the website, which lowers the chance that his website’s pages will come up in search engine results when someone is searching of the kind of real estate he has listed.
I’m looking into the problem and will advise what I’ve been able to implement by the time we meet.
In the meantime, I would recommend you try and address Items 1, 3 and 6 before our meeting. Each item is simple and straight forward, and no risk of making an error is possible.
